Have you heard of Fafi? She's a French graffiti artist who's been creating sexy, cheeky and "sometimes aggressive" female characters (Fafinettes) since the 1990's (some samples are shown here). Her work spans different media - she paints on walls, exhibits in galleries and gives life to commercial products.
In her most recent collaboration, Fafi teamed up with M.A.C. cosmetics to create a seasonal collection that might rank among the most unusual this year...
The collection features three of her characters (Eriko, Ermine and Monoka) and presents six different "looks" all based on a custom palette of unique "colors". Let's see.. what do we have here?
Verve-acious, Shockwave, Bold As Gold, Layin' Low, Hey, Perky, Smolder, Fascinating, Fash-n-Dash, Strawbaby, Totally It, Hipness, Belightful, Pink Venus, Rollickin', You're Fresh, Zoomblack, High Top, Squeeze It, Fashion Frenzy, Cash Flow, Not So Innocent, Sugar Trance, Sassed-Up, Howzat, Vanilla, Girl Friendly, Cult Fave, Fun 'N' Sexy, Utterly Frivolous. Ooof! Sounds like somebody had a lot of fun with the dictionary!
Combining these inventively named colors one can achieve any of the six suggested "looks".
Left to right: Fafi, Strawbaby, Squeeze It, Perky, Sassed-Up and Cult Five. Doesn't it remind you of the Wicked Queen a little bit ("mirror mirror on the wall")? Well, may be it's just my imagination. Anyway, my favorite looks are Squeeze It (#3), Perky (#4) and Sassed-up (#5).
But I actually wanted to call your attention to two "limited edition" eye shadow compacts in the collection. Choose between:
- Fafi Eyes 1: shades of Howzat, Hey, Pink Venus and Vanilla and
- Fafi Eyes 2: shades of Bold as Gold, You're Fresh, Shockwave and Frankster
I like the eyes on the perky look, but I don't like the heart on the cheek.
A mi tampoco me gusta el corazón en la mejilla, pero si el del lado derecho con sombras negras.
Habría la posibilidad de algún artículo que nos enseñe como maquillar los ojos?
Hi Kari,
Actually if you check the Galaxy Glam article, I linked to a webpage that shows how to create the smoky-eye effect in the eyes.
